I have been working in the Talent Management space for 10 years. My first job out of college was with a billion dollar global recruiting and staffing company. It was pretty sweet! I remember flying out to Boston just out of college and hopping in a company limo to go to a few weeks of corporate training. That’s pretty cool for a kid from small town Minnesota, having only flown on an airplane a few times prior. I was one of the first hired to start the Minneapolis office from nothing. Within 2 years, we grew the office to over 25 consultants and 5 million in revenue annually. Included in my responsibilities of starting and growing an office from ground zero, I was also one of the top national recruiters in the company. I really learned a ton, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything. I gained invaluable experience working with a diverse candidate base in multiple cities throughout the country, while also being responsible for developing and maintaining business in the Twin Cities region.
A few years later I was the top recruiter in a 30 million dollar Twin Cities based consulting company placing over 60 consultants on contracts per year, and bringing in annual revenues in excess of 7 million. I single handedly help build accounts from ground level into profitable, sustainable revenue generators. I actively participated in the sales process, and was a key ingredient to building the company into one of the top consulting companies in the metro. Again, great experience working with a really good team….I wouldn’t take back the experience for anything.
Currently, as Director of Recruiting at Object Partners, Inc., my main responsibility is to grow OPI by attracting and retaining the absolute top talent by implementing some of the mainstream marketing and recruiting techniques and practices I’ve researched and seen in action around the industry. I built the recruiting organization from ground zero and setup the entire internal recruiting process, from sourcing to acceptance. Accomplishments have included refining the Affirmative Action Plan, creating and incorporating an employment application, implementing an Applicant Tracking / CRM System, a monthly candidate newsletter / blog, and a completely new website. I managed the entire website redesign; gathered all business requirements and implemented an entirely new employment portal and technology weblog. I stay deeply involved with all branding and marketing for the entire company, which has also included the logo redesign, website redesign, website content, and other minor design work. I’m also involved with some of the day to day sales activities, general marketing and HR, as well as the management and implementation of the website, blog, and back office system. It’s the best job I’ve ever had by far. It’s a small company, and I wear multiple hats…..which I really enjoy. I’ve been very happy with what I’ve been able to accomplish within the first year.
Personally, life is good. I live in a northern suburb of Minneapolis, have a wonderful supporting wife, and a beautiful 3 year old daughter and a handsome little boy born July 22nd 2009. I’m an avid golfer (I played golf in college and currently hover around a 0 handicap), I play hockey weekly, and try and run 15-25 miles per week. I graduated from Minnesota State University in Mankato with a Bachelors degree in 2000. My goal is to be a leader within the HR and recruiting community, maintain a 0 handicap, and to keep the family happy (all at once)!
